Pininfarina H2 Speed Concept FCEV Unveiled in Geneva

The Pininfarina H2 Speed Concept was unveiled this week at the 86th Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. The H2 Speed Concept FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle) was developed by both the Italian custom car coachbuilder Pininfarina and the Swiss EV powertrain company GreenGT.

The H2 Speed Concept is being touted as something between an eco-friendly production supercar and a track ready competition prototype.

The 1420kg Le Mans style track-ready vehicle sports a carbon fiber body, 2 race-spec electric motors, 2 hydrogen tanks and a super light fuel cell stack.

With 500 bhp and a 0 to 62 mph speed of 3.4 seconds plus a top end over 180 mph, the Pininfarina H2 Speed is being targeted for sale towards a handful of wealthy car enthusiasts.

According to Pininfarina CEO Silvio Angor, “We think that the H2 Speed project could be feasible building about 10 units.” The price for the vehicle is expected to start in the millions.

This isn’t Pininfarina’s first foray into hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as back in 2008, the company unveiled the Sintesi (meaning “synthesis”) with smart vehicle technology.
