What's the best part of a customized classic truck, some say it's what's under the hood, while others proclaim it's the creature comforts added inside the cab like a kick butt stereo system, or an air conditioner so cold one can see their own breath. This said, we'd like to pay tribute to that area of our trucks most folks never really think about, but always have their own ideas how to use.
The crew at Classic Trucks just wrapped three fun packed days at the Goodguys 19th Annual South West Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, and we found some excellent examples of what a classic truck owner can do to personalize their bed. The first and most obvious part of a pickups bed, is the floor. Peruse the flicks we took, and you'll spot everything from nasty old planks that look like they came over on the Mayflower to exotic rare woods buried under what looks like a thousand coats of crystal clear varnish.
A close inspection of the Omaha Orange 1962 Chevy C10 with Washington license plates and an aluminum camper shell (canopy) reveals the owner took a little extra pride in the body lines on the '62 hood and transferred the design to his bed floor. Then there's the things a person has to do to accommodate air ride suspension or a pair of big beefy wide Pro Street tires; the C-notch, a bridge notch cover, or extra wide tubs.
And of course we can't forget all of the goodies a soul likes to haul around whether it be to show off a custom chopped motorcycle, or making the wife and kids ride in the back, so a prized hunting dog can ride in the cab in total climate controlled comfort. Well, maybe that's an idea not to set too well, with missus
