Tin Roof Bayou Bengal, brewed for LSU University

Tin Roof Bayou Bengal

Tin Roof Bayou Bengal, the officially licensed beer of Louisiana State University (LSU), debuts in late August.

Earlier this summer, Baton Rouge, Louisiana based Tin Roof Brewing Company allowed LSU fans and members of the local community blind taste a plethora of test batches of the would-be beer. The future beer would be perfect for tailgating, grilling out, etc.

The response was so overwhelming, the brewery could only accommodate 5% of the overall applicants for the panel.

Ultimately, a premium American lager style was chosen. A solid, clean, crisp beer great for the persistent heat of Louisiana. (Yes, even in the fall).

“There were no less than five distinct Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) styles represented in the slate of eight,” said Audra Gaiziunas, CEO of Tin Roof Brewing Company. “We had a fantastic time and those who attended provided outstanding and detailed feedback.”

The brewery tells Beer Street Journal that Tin Roof Bayou Bengal should be available in late August, just in time for LSU's first football game.
