Travel Tip of the Day: Why You Should Think Twice Before Drinking Alcohol on the Beach

Black Pot on Hanalei Bay

Why You Should Think Twice Before Drinking Alcohol on the Beach

Each beach city is different, but where I live in Los Angeles, if you get busted with an open container of alcohol on a beach, you'll be fined a minimum of $500! In fact, authorities have tripled that number (to $1,500) on citations given during holiday weekends like this past one (Fourth of July). So before bringing alcohol (or cigarettes) to the beach, be sure to know the laws and the potential fines. On some beaches, drinking is permitted, but on others, it could cost you.

FYI: The beach above-Black Pot on Hanalei Bay-is in Kaua'i, Hawaii, which Ian Livingston wrote about in January.
