The Norwalk, Connecticut based Boathouse Beverage LLC opened in 2013, making alcoholic seltzer water. The finished product is naturally gluten-free, 6% alcohol by volume, and features various cold pressed fruits. Fast track to shit town in the summer heat. Easily one of the most talked about alcoholic beverages this summer.
SpikedSeltzer is a naturally cold fermented, low-carb, gluten-free alcohol beverage with six percent alcohol by volume that borrows from the disciplines of brewing and winemaking. Made exclusively from purified water and simple ingredients, it appeals directly to carb-conscious, active consumers looking for a product that tastes great.
This new trend has caught the world's largest brewery's attention. Today, Anheuser-Busch InBev has acquired Boathouse Beverage LLC, aka Spiked Seltzer. The brand will be joined the brewery's High End Portfolio.
A representative from AB InBev declined to provide Beer Street Journal with the financial details of the purchase; only disclosing that the deal is for 100% of the company.
This week, AB InBev also acquired Belgian based Brouwerij Bosteels.
