Talk about a grand finale! Sunday is not only the final day of the 19th Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, it was the final day of the 2016 Goodguys event calendar. That calendar started way back in March right here at WestWorld of Scottsdale and has continued for 20 events, culminating with this weekend's three day hot rod party in the southwestern sunshine.
The Goodguys season finale started out strong on Friday and kept the needle pegged for three full days until the last award winner rolled past the main stage. In a few hours, the WestWorld venue will be empty and silent. Activities here will fire up again next weekend when the Grand Canyon Nationals Wrestling Championships come to town. But the hot rods won't be back until March when roll into town for the 2017 Spring Nationals and the beginning of the 2017 Goodguys season begins.
We can't wait until March to get back out here to Scottdale for another look at the best enthusiast cars and trucks from the southwest and some of the hottest new hot rods of the 2017 season. In the meantime, street rodders will find a few ways to occupy the winter months-a few big indoor shows, a holiday or two, and the opportunity to get back into the garage to make some modifications to their beloved vehicle or get started on a new one.
