Classic Trucks Roll In Deep to Goodguys Scottsdale 2016 Nats

There's no two ways about when the staff of Classic Trucks hits the road to cover a really great show like Goodguys 19th annual Southwestern Nationals going on right now in Scottsdale, Arizona we're a whole lot braver than we are smart. In the tradition of Hunter S. Thompson, but without the mind-altering poisonous spiders or tarantulas we struck out across West World's massive landscape, and spent early Friday morning doing hours long Facebook Live posts. Later it was shoot still galleries, and drink bottled mineral water like an Egyptian… whatever that means.

Where's Roxanne Pulitzer when you need her? The sun was glaring into our trusty iPhone screens like striking an arc on a Miller TIG welder without a helmet, or a potato to rub into our eyes afterwards. The first truck up was a 1956 Ford F-100 with a 392 Chrysler Hemi under its hood that used to roam the streets of Anaheim, California, but disappeared somewhere around 2006. There it sat today fully equipped with Vintage Air A/C and in Scottsdale, Arizona with Nevada license plates.

There's a saying that even the most fervent of Ford or Chevy classic truck fanatics chant and that's a Chrysler Hemi can go anywhere that it wants to. No sooner had we traipsed away from the red oxide primered '56 F-100 drooling uncontrollably we spotted another 392 Chrysler powered classic truck, only this time it was 1959 Chevy short Fleet with a ton of really convincing patina. A chat with the '59's owner and his lovely female accomplice revealed there was a brick load of work bringing the old Arizona farm truck, back to looking like a cherry survivor. She could have been his wife, who looks for wedding rings when there's an old Chevy truck with its hood up?

The M&M Buick Chevrolet tow truck out of Newman – Gustine, California made us think about our good buddy Bob Ryder, born in Gustine raised on old trucks, and still Truckin'. The rural little towns all across America, Canada and Mexico to this day are crawling with the raw material derelict old trucks one needs to restore, rod, and cruise, so what are you waiting for if you can't join us this weekend in Scottsdale, go you now and build a truck. We'll see you at the next Goodguys show. In the meantime please enjoy our multi-platform coverage of the Goodguys 19th Annual Southwestern Nationals coming to a digital device, or trusty computer near you until Sunday evening November 20, 2016.
